EVALUATION - Quesiton 7

Looking back at my preliminary task, what do I feel I've learnt in the progression from it?

This is my school magazine front cover. I have created a masthead which links to the school, I have used the school colours and used cover lines to advertise the articles inside the magazine such as 'PB Radio'. This front cover, is very empty, the layout isn't very good and there isn't enough information.
This is my contents page for my school magazine. I like the way it is layed out as it doesn't look to busy but it has enough information included in order to appear interesting. The images are relevant as they show students learning but they should have been at a better quality. I think the colours are a bit random which is why the page looks a bit over whelming and makes it look unattractive. I think it includes an appropriate amount of information which will give the reader an idea of what is in the magazine.

Comparing my music magazine front cover to my school magazine front cover, you can clearly see a huge imporovement, I have thoroughly thought about layout, colours, text and positioning. I have learnt about the conventions and what it takes to make it look professional. Whilst creating my music magazine I have thought about my target audience and what they have told me in my questionnaires.

EVALUATION - Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The ideal reader for my media product is mainly female aged between 15-25. This is because the charts are mainly dominated by female artists of young boy bands which are targeted at females. My magazine does offer topics that could appeal to males but the majority of the magazine is focused on females. Between the ages 15-25, people are usually still in education whether that's school or University therefore my target audience may not be employed. If they are employed, this may not necessarily be a full time job, this may just be a part time (weekend) job. Young adults in this age bracket tend to shop in places such as River Island, Topshop, Urban Outfitters, New Look and H&M. This is because people in the age range I am targeting my magazine at, like to keep up to date with fashion. Clothing may be the main thing that their money is spent on. My target audience would either be living at home with their parents, or in University Halls Of Residence, or have not long moved into a house on their own with friends from University. They value friends and family, fashion, money, music and their education. My media product is aimed at young adults which means they would tend to socialise at places such as cinema's, local parks, nights out and their houses. People of this age would usually spend their free time with friends and family, school work or a part time job, listening to music and socialising. As it is much more popular now a days to download music, people in this age bracket will listen to music online. iTunes, Spotify and YouTube are the main sources, my target audience would mainly use these three ways to listen to music.

These are some images of typical readers of my magazine. They all shop in similar shops, have an interest in fashion and take care in their appearance.
